Haizhou Zhang, Ph.D., VP, China Operations (formerly Boehringer Ingelheim)
Vice President, China Operations

Dr. Zhang is a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. He has been involved in nonclinical safety assessment/Toxicology for more than 10 years. Prior to joining CHA, Dr. Zhang worked as a compound manager and an interim Head of Genetic Toxicology in the Department of Toxicology and Safety Assessment at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. where he was involved in all toxicology related drug development activities with major responsibilities focusing on designing nonclinical safety testing programs and preparing and supporting regulatory submissions for different classes of compounds including both small molecules and biologics.

Before joining Boehringer Ingelheim in 2004, Dr. Zhang worked at Covance Laboratories Inc. from 2000 to 2004 as a Study Director, primarily for genetic toxicology studies.  From 1995 to 1996, Dr. Zhang worked as a toxicologist at the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products in Beijing, China.  

He received his Ph.D. in Toxicology from Indiana University.  He also has a MPH (majoring in Toxicology) and a Bachelor of Medicine from Beijing Medical University. Dr. Zhang has been active in many scientific committees and organizations.  He has served as a board member for the Genetic Toxicology Association (GTA) and the American Chinese Society of Toxicology (ACSOT) and is currently a full member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT), the American College of Toxicology (ACT), GTA, BioSafe, the Sino American Pharmaceutical Association (SAPA), and American Association of Chinese Toxicology (AACT).
