In Vitro Cardiotoxicity Assessment: Benchmarking Study
In May 2007, Cambridge Healthtech Associates (CHA) conducted a benchmarking survey across the pharmaceutical industry to assess current and future uses and expectations of  in vitro cardiotoxicity assessment methods.  Approximately 40 life sciences institutions participated in this survey with the majority (67%) representing the biopharmaceutical industry and the remainder CRO's (18%) and academic /research institutions (15%).  In addition, a majority (68%) of these participants work in either preclinical development or preclinical safety/toxicology, one fifth in discovery, and about one sixth in clinical development.

A majority (57%) of participants routinely conduct in vitro cardiotoxicity assessment within their organizations, and most of those who do not currently do so expect to begin routine in vitro cardiotoxicity assessment in the next 12 months.
